La Segreta derives its name from the surrounding woods at Ulmo, where our vineyard is located. With the addition of international grapes, this young, fresh wine, which is primarily made from Nero d’Avola grapes—the symbol of Sicilian wine—gains flair and personality. Every grape is expertly grown on farms that Planeta owns. La Segreta is the perfect everyday drink partner because it can be enjoyed on a variety of occasions. After detalking and racking maturation in stainless steel, the skins are left on for 7–14 days at 25°C.
Color: A really bright ruby color.
Aromas of redcurrant and mulberry with a hint of spice and mint round out the scent profile.
Palate: The wine exhibits a lovely personality in the mouth, with flavors reminiscent of juicy wild fruits that are nicely counterbalanced by a rich, herbal taste. This red wine has a very adaptable character due to its smooth and gentle tannins.
