It’s fascinating to see how the tequila blends with a variety of mixers; we’ve brought together seven delectable and surprisingly easy to whip up tequila cocktails for you.

1. MARGARITA

This tangy gorgeousness is an indispensible part of every cocktail menu for a reason! The Margarita is flawlessly balanced, combining the gusto of lime and the sweetness of orange liqueur with the distinct potency of the tequila! It’s a classic cocktail that was popular circa 1930 and is decidedly in-style even today!

Ingredients

2 oz Blanco tequila
½ oz Cointreau
1 oz lime juice
½ oz agave nectar

How to make

Run a lime wedge around the rim of the glass, then dip it in Kosher salt, and set aside.
Mix all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker, add a few ice cubes and give it a good shake.
Strain and serve on the rocks. Garnish with a slice of lime.

2. TEQUILA SUNRISE

The Tequila Sunrise, with its stunningly bright stripes of color is another classic which has three ingredients and is served unmixed to conserve the colors of each layer. The Tequila Sunrise became hugely popular after Mick Jagger began drinking it and The Rolling Stones named their 1972 tour “The Cocaine and Tequila Sunrise Tour.”!

Ingredients

2 oz Blanco tequila
4 oz orange juice
¼ oz grenadine

How to make

Add the tequila and then the orange juice to a highball glass.
Float the grenadine on top.
Garnish with an orange slice and a cherry.

3. TEQUINI

Ingredients

1 and ½ oz Blanco tequila
½ oz dry vermouth
A dash of angostura bitters

How to make

Fill a shaker with ice.
Pour in the tequila, vermouth and bitters and shake.
Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Garnish with a lemon twist and olive.

4. BRAVE BULL

The Brave Bull lives up to its name! A somewhat unusual combination, the tequila gives the drink a rich, sweet taste that balances the strong coffee flavour. Its origin lies in the 1951 movie, The Brave Bulls which is based on bull fighting in Mexico!

Ingredients

1 and ½ oz Blanco tequila
1 oz Kahlua
2 tbsp sugar
¼ tsp cinnamon powder
¼ tsp cayenne pepper

How to make

Rub lime over the rim of the glass. Dip the rim in the sugar-spice mix.
Pour ice in to a glass.
Add the tequila and coffee liqueur; stir.
Garnish with a lemon twist.

5. ENVY

A beautiful blue cocktail, the Envy has a brilliant tropical flavor. It is ideal for an outdoor summer party and is extremely easy to mix up. Not only is its color enchanting, but you need only three ingredients to whisk it up! Tequila forms the base, blue curaçao imparts the gorgeous color, while a smidge of orange, and a little pineapple juice lend it the sumptuous flavor of the tropics!

Ingredients

1 and ½ oz silver tequila
1 ozblue curaçao
½ ozpineapple juice
A dash of orange juice

How to make

In a shaker, fill ice cubes.
Pour the tequila, blue curaçao, pineapple juice and orange juice.
Shake and pour in to a glass.
Garnish with a maraschino cherry.

6. SANGRITA

A traditional Mexican drink, this spicy concoction is a classic accompaniment to a shot of tequila. Sangrita means ‘a little blood’ and this drink dates back to the 1920s. Most modern Sangritas are heavy on tomato juice, while old-school recipes used to skip the tomato altogether and concentrate on orange and lime. There are a host of exciting recipes and creations of the Sangrita that include grapefruit, grenadine, cucumber, and other cut-up vegetables!

Ingredients

2 oz Lime juice
6 oz Orange juice
6 oz Grapefruit juice
1 tsp Salt
2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1 pinch smoked paprika
15 oz Tomato juice
2 oz Tabasco
Jalapeño pepper, halved (with seeds)

How to make

Add all ingredients to a pitcher.
Let stand for 15 minutes; then discard the jalapeño.
Serve as accompaniment to. To serve, pour 5 ounces of the Sangrita into an ice-filled glass and serve alongside a 2 ounce shot of Blanco tequila.

7. LE MEXIQUE

The Mexique is a rather sweet, silky-smooth mango and ginger margarita that is tastefully garnished with dark chocolate. The superb ginger liqueur lends a spicy, rich note to this fruity twist on the iconic margarita. Sublime!

Ingredients

1 oz white tequila
½ oz Domaine de Canton
½ oz mango purée
½ oz fresh lime juice
¼ oz agave syrup

How to make

Combine tequila, Domaine de Canton, lime juice, mango purée, and agave in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
Shake and strain into a chilled champagne glass.
Garnish with shaved dark chocolate.
