While PayPal, SpaceX and Tesla are symbols of Elon Musk’s drive to accomplishing unimaginable & otherworldly feats, Tesla Tequila is Elon having fun!
After all, Elon is a benchmark himself vis-à-vis innovation & while getting into tequila might seem like a play out of left field, know that his venture into the space will be well thought out.
The Elon Musk tequila is the culmination of an entrepreneur-innovator-billionaire’s desire to pull off a practical April fool’s joke on Twitter! On April 01, 2018, Elon tweeted that Tesla had gone bankrupt big time, followed by this another tweet by him:
“Elon was found passed out against a Tesla Model 3, surrounded by “Teslaquilla” bottles, the tracks of dried tears still visible on his cheeks. This is not a forward-looking statement, because, obviously, what’s the point? Happy New Month!”
Unconventional, but that’s how Tesla Tequila was conceived, and added to the list of seemingly whimsical ideas of Elon that later became realities.
Tesla launched Tesla Tequila on Nov 05, 2020 on its website. It is 750mL of añejo tequila at 40% ABV and costs $250 for a bottle (including shipping charges), all of which sold out soon after the start of the order! Order deliveries will begin in December 2020.
It is an exclusive, small-batch premium 100% de agave tequila made from sustainably sourced (did we mention Elon is crazy about conserving the environment!) highland and lowland agaves, as per the Tesla website.
The tequila has been aged for 15 months in French oak barrels and into hand-blown glass bottles. It features a dry fruit and light vanilla nose with balanced cinnamon pepper finish.
Since it has been aged for more than a year, it perfectly explains why it took so long to finally arrive in the market after its early announcement in 2018.
An excellent añejo for sipping & a tribute to Elon’s ingenuity, that’s what Tesla Tequila is!
But wait …
It’s not just what is inside the bottle that has intrigued people.
The bottle design itself is quite distinct … a true reflection of Elon and his ambitious endeavors. The Tesla Tequila bottle is a crazy-looking bolt of lightning. It looks tantalizingly appealing in an ‘I-must-have-it’ sort of way!
This premium tequila is available only in the US for now, limited to only those states there where alcohol delivery is allowed.
Elon has wished to upgrade mankind into an interplanetary lifestyle and the Tesla Tequila will undoubtedly fit in the new surroundings while you clink your glasses on other planets in near future.
